Named after the animals on the property as the course was being developed, the Bear, the Otter, and the Foxare the three courses at River Oaks. Like most courses in the Myrtle Beach area, water is all around. The Bear is the worst with water on all 9 holes. The other two however have water, but not as much in play.
This course isn’t going to wow you with amenities. They have a small, house like clubhouse, with a small pro shop and small bar area. But that’s not what they are about. If want to come out and just play some golf, this course is perfect. They have some decent practice greens as well as a public driving range.
The conditions here are pretty good. They do a decent job maintaining it. The greens are generally small and the fairways aren’t incredibly wide, adding to the difficulty of the relatively basic courses. River Oaks is a good value. You get what you pay for. You will get an average round of golf for a great price. If you go there expecting Augusta, you will be very disappointed. Go there with your friends or your kids and you’ll have another great day in Myrtle Beach.
