Myrtle Beach Track and Field Kid's Day

Myrtle Beach Track and Field Kid's Day

The Myrtle Beach Track and Field Club held a Kids day Thursday, March 17th at the City’s new state-of-the-art facility, Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium on 33rd Ave North. It was a fun filled afternoon for all involved, both volunteers and kids alike. Approximately 75 children between the ages of 6-13 participated in the event.

The Track and Field Day was held as an opportunity for kids and parents to get involved in the world of track and field and to learn what the Myrtle Beach Track and Field Club is all about.

The children rotated stations including long jump, shot put, javelin, high jump, sprints, relays and hurdles. Athletes from the Coastal Carolina University Track and Field team ran each station. The Coastal track athletes’ enthusiasm for the sport created such an exciting event for the children participating and also for the on looking parents in the stands.

Myrtle Beach Track and Field Club head Coach Trey Bell commented “It was a success in introducing the county’s youth to the sport of Track and Field. Track and Field is an excellent sport to aid in general fitness and heath for children. If your dreams are set on becoming a top athlete in any sport, Track and Field builds a foundation for all other sports. Track and Field builds teamwork, leadership skills and confidence and is a healthy outlet for children to be active and have fun over the summer. There is an opportunity for success for all body types.”

Also attending the event was the Coastal Carolina University’s mascot Chauncy the Chanticleer as well as the MB T&F Club mascot, Hugo, a 185 pound English Mastiff who is also a registered Therapy Dog.

If your child is interested in participating in the city’s Track and Field club team, visit www.mbtrackandfield.com for more information.
