Has Myrtle Beach ever allowed cars on the beach?

Beaches like Daytona always allowed cars on the beach and I wondered if Myrtle Beach ever did?

Back many years ago there were cars on the beach but I don't remember any in the last two or three decades.

Last year a guy got ran over and nearly died and that's one reason no one should be allowed to drive on the beach. That was a life guard company worker that ran him over and while I realize accidents happen there just is not excuse for cars on the beach.
