Why so many beachwear stores in Myrtle Beach?

I'll never understand the need for so many of these stores in Myrtle Beach. When you drive by them most are lucky to have a customer or two each day. There has to some explanation for how they stay open.

Most people feel they use these businesses as fronts for other businesses they own. They shift money around and things of that nature. I was overseeing a project a few years ago and for two months we worked beside a huge beachwear store and many days they didn't have a single customer that any of us noticed.

Many people have asked the same question over the years. Obviously one reason is so they can burn them down and get the insurance money.
