Good board for me to continue my Biker Week crusade!

Let's bring back the bikers to help the local economy. Some bikers can be trouble but you can say that about any group of people.

Well while I didn't like everything about the bike weeks I will say there was a lot more money to be made in Myrtle Beach during that time.

I own a small business in North Myrtle Beach and it was a serious problem for our business when the bike weeks were cut back.

I wonder what would happen if there was a vote by the people?

Hell no. The trouble was far worse than the few financial benefits.

Maybe this will allow some of the bikers to return.

Myrtle Beach turns the volume up on noise ordinance

MYRTLE BEACH -- Myrtle Beach City Council voted Tuesday to change the noise ordinance, allowing things like motorcycles to run a bit louder.
Approval of the second and final reading of the change increases the noise level allowed within city limits from 89 decibels to 92 decibels.
The city lowered the maximum vehicle noise to 89 decibels in 2008 in an effort to cut down on issues relating to two annual motorcycle rallies.
Council decided to take a second look at the law after Horry County hotel owners and motorcycle groups filed a lawsuit.

The higher level is in line with industry standards.

I would like to see the numbers on what has improved since the city of Myrtle Beach tried to kill the rally. Did it work in cutting down crime and the trouble that they talked so much about?

I'm not sure it matters now. With some of the law changes (like the helmet law) I expect many of the bikers to come back.
